Young Leaders of Bryan County — 2027 Program Description
Young Leaders of Bryan County (YLBC) is a leadership development program of the Bryan County Chamber of Commerce designed to identify, develop, and connect promising high school students from across Bryan County.
The program is open to high school juniors and seniors who live or attend school in Bryan County, including students attending public, private, or homeschool programs.
Through interactive leadership training, behind-the-scenes community experiences, conversations with local leaders, and exposure to a variety of industries and career pathways, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the community they call home and the opportunities available to them.
YLBC goes beyond the classroom by giving students firsthand access to the people, businesses, organizations, institutions, and industries that help shape Bryan County and the surrounding region. Each program day will focus on a different aspect of leadership, career development, and community involvement.
Throughout the program, students will be encouraged to build relationships with their peers, strengthen their leadership and communication skills, explore future career opportunities, and consider how they can make a positive impact in their schools and communities.
Program Objectives
Young Leaders of Bryan County seeks to:
- Identify high school juniors and seniors who demonstrate leadership potential, initiative, character, and an interest in their community.
- Build a diverse class of students representing the schools, educational settings, and geographic areas of Bryan County.
- Develop leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Introduce students to local businesses, industries, government, education, military, healthcare, nonprofit organizations, and other community resources.
- Provide exposure to a variety of career and educational pathways.
- Connect students with business and community leaders who can serve as examples, mentors, and professional connections.
- Encourage civic engagement, volunteerism, and continued involvement in Bryan County.
- Help students better understand how their individual strengths and interests can contribute to their future careers and communities.

Potential themes could include Military & Public Safety, Industry & Economic Development, Healthcare & Human Services, Government & Civic Leadership, Education & Career Pathways, History & Community, Entrepreneurship & Business, and Quality of Life/Nonprofit Leadership.
