Field Services Specialist
Job Purpose:
Provides professional service in the overall operation of the electric distribution system, particularly in the areas of locating and inspecting underground electric cable.
Duties:
>Responds to Utility Protection Center requests for underground location of conductors in a timely manner.
>Assist Members in selecting best electrical line route for power to home or business.
>Prepare simple work orders for new construction and retirement.
>Perform conduit inspections for customers and contractors.
>Perform connects and disconnects of service and works service orders as instructed.
>Read electric meters on assigned routes.
>Identify and differentiate electrical utility equipment from telecommunication equipment.
>Identify and report safety hazards, vandalism, and other problems spotted in the field.
>Maintains files and necessary documentation of inspections and locates.
>Perform all other job related duties as assigned by management.
Skills/Qualifications:
High school diploma or state equivalency certification required. 1-2 years of utility or locate experience is required. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, safety materials, and other work related material. Must have excellent organizational, time management, verbal and written communications skills. Must be able to interact with a variety of personality types in a friendly and professional manner. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Must have and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license, and ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license with a clean driving record, as use of company vehicles is required in this job. Must possess computer skills and be able to operate a computer, calculator, mobile devices, copy machine, and located equipment.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, biting insects, and dogs, as well as the risk of electrical shock. The work is performed ninety (90) percent outdoors. The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate. The position requires specific safety equipment and the employee is required to follow prescribed safety rules.
