Heavy Equipment Operator - Utility Operator

EOM is seeking a qualified Heavy Equipment Operator with motor grading experience. Candidates must have an excellent work history with proven skills and experience in the operation of graders, backhoes, excavators, front-end loaders, street sweepers and scrapers.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•Perform day-to-day tasks as assigned, including streets beautification, street asphalt patching work, concrete flatwork, gravel/dirt road maintenance, pothole repairs, storm sewer maintenance and repairs, ditch/canal maintenance, sign inventory and compliance, dry trash and debris removal, emergency stormwork, street sweeping, mowing, edging right-of-way (ROW), and on- call duties.

•Must have experience and excavating around underground utilities. 

•Operates and maintains heavy equipment efficiently while operating around underground utilities. 

•Ability to be tactful, courtesy and effective with the public and co-workers.

•Work with, assign, schedule, and/or oversee others as directed, during various tasks, projects, or seasons.

•Assist with the efforts of other departments/locations as training and experience will allow, or as directed by his/her supervisor, including assisting with city/county-wide clean-up projects, capital expenditure projects, etc.

•Execute safety and security measures to protect and safeguard people and property while performing job duties.

•Keep accurate, careful, and timely written records of work performed, and assist those under his/her supervision in doing the same.

•Responds to after-hours emergencies and is prepared to be on-call for any critical workforce duties and emergency support functions.

•Perform all other duties as specified by his or her supervisor.


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EQUIPMENT & OTHER

•Knowledge of street operations, and maintenance in such areas such as: asphalt, concrete and gravel road construction, storm, sewer operation and maintenance, MUTCD sign installation and management guidelines, standards for road markings

•Demonstrate proficiency operating a motor grader

•Ability to operate all necessary heavy machinery and equipment

•Possession of a valid Class B CDL Georgia driver's license
